Research Programs and Areas

We are a highly collaborative department engaged in preclinical research that encompasses molecular analysis, integrated pharmacology and physiology, behavioral models and drug development.

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry has excellent facilities for research in major areas of medicinal chemistry. Faculty have been highly successful in attracting extramural research support for the past several years.

Faculty members have been highly successful in attracting extramural research support and are engaged in a variety of ongoing studies, allowing early research experiences of junior graduate students through independent study experiences.

Research in the Department of Pharmaceutics encompasses studies in pharmacokinetics, quantitative pharmacology, pharmacometrics, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutical biotechnology and drug delivery.

The Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research has a variety of ongoing research projects, including drug response, drug-drug interactions, drug transporters and drug metabolism enzymes, precision medicine, cancer and various disease states.
