The online programs are among the largest and most successful in the world, having received multiple national awards for excellence in distance education. The programs are fully self-supporting and generate nearly $12 million annually, which supports the infrastructure required for course development and delivery as well as student affairs.

Innovative Practice and Service Models

Through interdisciplinary and collaborative practice arrangements, the UF College of Pharmacy is a national leader in developing, implementing, and evaluating innovative clinical pharmacy practice models. The shared responsibility model pairs clinical pharmacists with academic clinicians to strengthen the education of future pharmacists and increase scholarly activity. In addition, the innovative use of collaborative practice plans across inpatient and outpatient settings — both within and beyond UF Health — creates new training opportunities for pharmacists, generates clinical revenue, and serves as a model for other academic institutions.

The UF College of Pharmacy is enhancing patient care within the UF Health system through its Utilizing Pharmacists To Improve Care, or UPTIC, program, which increases interactions between clinical pharmacists and hospitalized patients, leading to improved quality of care and patient satisfaction. Expanding its clinical outreach in Florida, the college has an alliance with Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers to provide specialized telehealth medication consultations, focusing on anticoagulation and polypharmacy management. Additionally, the MyRx pharmacogenetic testing service demonstrates UF Health’s commitment to personalized medicine by tailoring drug therapy to an individual’s genetic profile.
