UF COP Succession Planning

The UF College of Pharmacy ELEVATE Program is an innovative initiative designed to integrate succession planning into everyday operations. Identifying and developing emerging talent early will help us build a strong pipeline of motivated professionals prepared to support and advance the college’s mission.

Succession Planning: The Essentials

Succession Planning

What it is:

Identifying readiness actions early.
Guarding against talent loss and gaps.
Building bench strength for future success.
Creating a culture of care, opportunity & excellence for all.

Succession Planning

What it isn’t:

Picking favorites.
Succession efforts lacking clear objectives and/or transparency.
An exclusive, secret planning process.
Purely top-down.

Succession Planning

Key questions it answers:

What skills does the organization need now and later?
What do employees want?
Do employee strengths match future roles?
When will new talent be required?
Is the employee ready and excited for a change?
What steps raise readiness now?
