About John Kight
Dr. John Kight earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida with honors in 2012. Having also attended UF for his undergraduate education and growing up in Gainesville, he is a proud “Double Gator” and lifelong fan of the Orange and Blue!
Dr. Kight brings more than a decade of diverse pharmacy experience to his academic appointment. His past clinical work includes service as an inpatient pharmacist and his Community Pharmacy background includes leadership and management roles with Walmart Pharmacy, where he focused on advancing patient-centered care balanced with business operations, team development, and student precepting. He holds certifications in immunization delivery and training, Test and Treat pharmacy services, AHA BLS delivery and training, and Consultant Pharmacy practice. His passion for teaching has been recognized through awards including the 2024 UF CIPPE Preceptor of the Year honor.
Since 2023, Dr. Kight has served with the Office of Experiential Programs as a Regional Coordinator in Gainesville, supporting preceptors and practice sites across the region to ensure quality experiential learning. As of January 2026, he expanded his role with the college to include serving as Residency Program Director of the Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program and additional teaching appointments centered around his focus on preparing the next generation of outstanding pharmacists. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling to new places, and frequently visiting the St Augustine and Crescent Beach area.
