The College of Pharmacy offers several different online M.S. concentrations to provide graduates with a broad range of specialized knowledge and skills:

When you optimize your learning by earning both Pharm.D. and M.S. degrees, six (6) M.S. credit hours can be applied towards your Pharm.D. required hours as electives. Our online M.S. degrees require 31 to 33 total credit hours, depending on the concentration. Current M.S. tuition fees range from $575 to $750 per credit hour, depending on the concentration.

Can my online M.S. courses count towards my Pharm.D.?
Yes, up to 6 credit hours from select online M.S. courses may count toward your required Pharm.D. electives, depending on your chosen concentration. Most M.S. degree programs require a total of 31 to 33 credit hours to complete.
Can I start an online M.S. program during my Pharm.D. and save time and money?
Yes, you can begin taking online M.S. courses as early as your first year of the Pharm.D. program. With shared credits, you’ll complete your degree faster.
How do online courses fit into the Pharm.D. calendar?
Year 1: Apply to the M.S. program
Complete 6 M.S. credit hours (during summer CIPPEs)
Year 2: 3 M.S. credit hours each in fall and spring
Complete 6 M.S. credit hours (during summer HIPPEs)
Year 3: 3 M.S. credit hours each in fall and spring
Complete 6 M.S. credit hours (during summer APPEs)
Year 4: 3 M.S. credit hours each in fall and spring
How much does an online M.S. cost?
Tuition for online M.S. courses ranges from $575 to $1,050 per credit hour. Therefore, the total cost for an online MSP when combined with a Pharm.D. ranges between $14,375 and $26,700 plus fees, depending on factors such as concentration, the number of credits applied and residency status.
Unlike the Pharm.D. program, which uses block tuition, the online M.S. program charges tuition on a per-course basis.
How flexible are the online M.S. programs?
Our online M.S. programs are designed to work with the Pharm.D. schedule. Courses are 100% online, with no on-campus visits required, through asynchronous learning.

What are the admission requirements for the online M.S. program?
Pharm.D. applicants for the online M.S. program must:
- Have a baccalaureate degree in a natural science subject from one of the institutional accreditors (or international equivalent) found in the “Accreditation” section on the UF Admissions website. If your bachelor’s degree is not in a natural science subject, please contact the program coordinator for the specific program.
- Have an upper-division GPA of 3.0 or higher. To calculate what your upper-division GPA is, please use the Upper Division GPA Worksheet. If your upper-division GPA is below 3.0, please contact the program coordinator for the specific program.
- Be in good standing in the Pharm.D. program and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0. Both the Office of Lifelong Learning and the Office of Student Affairs in the College of Pharmacy will evaluate applicants prior to formal consideration for admission.
Do I need to take the GRE or request letters of recommendation?
No, the online M.S. has a simplified admissions process, meaning GRE and letters of recommendation are not required.
