Gary Cacciatore, Pharm.D., J.D., a 1988 graduate of the UF College of Pharmacy and vice president of regulatory affairs and associate regulatory counsel for Cardinal Health, Inc., was named the college’s 2021 Outstanding Alumnus Award winner. The award recognizes an alumnus whose lifetime contributions have been truly extraordinary with lasting benefits to the profession.
At Cardinal Health, Cacciatore is responsible for advising the company on complex regulatory, transactional, compliance and litigation matters. Prior to joining the company, he was an assistant professor at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy, where he taught courses in pharmacy law and ethics, drug information and food and drug law. Cacciatore is the co-author of “Texas Pharmacy and Drug Law,” now in its 12th Edition and also the founder of “Dr. C’s Review Guides,” offering pharmacy law review books and seminars for pharmacy students and pharmacists seeking licensure in Florida and other states. He currently serves as an adjunct associate professor with the University of Houston College of Pharmacy and the UF College of Pharmacy.
In addition to earning his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UF, Cacciatore received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of numerous local, state and national pharmacy and legal associations, and is a past President of the American Society for Pharmacy Law.
Cacciatore received the award during the UF College of Pharmacy’s Commencement weekend, May 14-15. He also delivered the Commencement Address at the college’s spring ceremony.
