The Pharmacy Quality Alliance, or PQA, has appointed Weihsuan “Jenny” Lo-Ciganic, Ph.D., M.S., M.S. Pharm, an assistant professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research, to serve a second three-year term on its Quality Metrics Expert Panel, or QMEP. Her second term began in January, and she will serve as co-chair of the panel in 2021.
The PQA is a national multi-stakeholder, consensus based-organization that develops and disseminates measures for monitoring medication utilization for many acute and chronic conditions focusing on safety, adherence, and appropriateness. PQA was established in 2006 as a public-private partnership with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services shortly after the implementation of the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit. The QMEP is a small group of experts who meet monthly to recommend measures for testing and for endorsement by PQA.
