Research Activities
Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology
The center creates a uniquely rigorous and integrative academic translational science program in quantitative clinical pharmacology with a focus on personalized medicine. Integral to this mission is the education and training of doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows in the discipline of drug development and regulatory science. Using systems biology approaches, researchers study drug activities, targets, and clinical effects to support and advance translational research, which improves the process of bringing new drugs to market for improved patient therapies, including personalized medicines
Bulitta Research Lab
The dynamic antimicrobial research team at Lake Nona is developing innovative antibiotic combination therapies which can successfully treat infections from bacterial ‘superbugs,’ which are resistant to most, or all antibiotics. This team is headed by Dr. Jurgen Bulitta, who is an internationally recognized expert in antimicrobial pharmacology, the latest in vitro infection models, and translational mechanistic modeling.
In-Space Biomanufacturing for Human Health Innovation Hub
The InSpa Bio Hub was established through the University of Florida’s strategic funding initiative to align researchers across the university to conduct biomanufacturing experiments and reveal the significant effects of space conditions on biological systems and their engineered outputs.
