About Sofia Kokkaliari

Sofia Kokkaliari, Ph.D., received her B.S. in Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2014. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of South Florida in 2020, with a focus on marine natural product chemistry under the guidance of Professor Bill J. Baker. She further expanded her expertise in marine natural product chemistry as a post-doctoral associate under the direction of professor Hendrik Luesch at the University of Florida. She was appointed as an assistant scientist with the Department of Medicinal Chemistry in the College of Pharmacy in October 2024. Her research includes the isolation, dereplication, structure determination and studies of the bioactivities of marine natural products, and the screening of natural products and natural products-like libraries as well as in-depth mechanistic characterization.
