About Akash J Alexander
Dr. Akash Alexander is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Education and Practice at the Orlando campus. His teaching focuses on community pharmacy practice, particularly within skills laboratory courses and the patient care curriculum. His scholarly interests center on innovative teaching strategies and community pharmacy–based initiatives. Prior to his current role, Dr. Alexander served on the faculty at Long Island University (LIU) in Brooklyn, New York. During his time at LIU, he maintained an ambulatory care practice at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan, where he established a diabetes management program. He later transitioned to serve as the primary course coordinator for the college’s pharmacy skills laboratory sequence. To further strengthen his teaching expertise, he earned a Master of Science in Educational Technology from LIU Post. In recognition of his excellence in teaching, he was awarded the David Newton Award, LIU’s highest honor for teaching.
Before joining LIU, Dr. Alexander practiced at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, New York, where he focused on bedside medication education for high-risk patients and transitions of care. Earlier in his career, he was on faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy in Richmond, Virginia, where he also completed a community pharmacy residency. While at VCU, he provided pharmacy services within a mental health setting at the Daily Planet, a Health Care for the Homeless clinic, and developed an advanced community pharmacy practice rotation at CVS Pharmacy.
Dr. Alexander earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.
