Student organizations

Student organizations in the UF College of Pharmacy provide opportunities for professional exploration and development. Several organizations specifically encourage and help underrepresented minority student succeed in pharmacy school and the profession. Through these organizations, UF College of Pharmacy students are building a community amongst each other and branching out into their local communities to serve others with their professional skills and expertise.

OLEF empowers pharmacy students to be innovators and leaders in the profession, transforming the Hispanic/Latinx community through service and education. We aim to create opportunities to develop leaders in pharmacy that will positively transform the lives of the increasing Hispanic/Latinx population in the United States. The organization will provide opportunities for the students to give back to the community and serve others with their acquired professional skills.

The Student National Pharmaceutical Association is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about the profession of pharmacy, health care issues, and the poor minority representation in these areas. Student National Pharmaceutical Association is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about the profession of pharmacy, health care issues and the poor minority representation in these areas. SNPhA’s mission is to execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of minority communities by raising awareness and educating future pharmacist on how to address community specific health disparities. Through community engagement and professionally led skills workshops, they empower students to be a voice of change in the field of pharmacy.

BLS-C

Black Lives Student Coalition, or BLS-C, serves to proactively facilitate conversations concerning racial bias and civil injustice in different aspects of our society, while furthering unity on the UF campus and beyond. We aim to foster an environment where students feel encouraged to inquire and be educated on issues facing the Black community. We provide the opportunity to learn from and impact black lives in hopes of creating well-rounded pharmacists that are equipped to provide equitable care to all patients in the future.

A council committed to the advocacy of a diverse and inclusive environment within the University of Florida Health Science Center. We aspire to recruit, retain and support individuals across all identities to promote a diverse medical and scientific workforce, improving health care equity for all. Each college has a student representative from their clinical program and one from their graduate program on the council.

The Summer Health Professions Education Program, or SHPEP, is a FREE summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions.

Summer Research at Florida Program

The Summer Undergraduate Research at Florida, or SURF, program is a ten-week, on-campus, research-intensive program that pairs undergraduate students with a faculty advisor and a senior-level Ph.D. student mentor.

It is important that we establish a sense of belonging for everyone associated with the UF College of Pharmacy, I am committed to learning about experiences outside my own to better understand and further develop an inclusive environment for everyone.

Dr. John Allen was appointed the UF College of Pharmacy's first associate dean for diversity, inclusion and health equity on Jan. 1, 2021.
