Paul Doering, a distinguished service professor who retired in 2011, has left a lasting legacy of excellence in pharmacy education. In honor of Paul’s devotion to teaching and students, we are creating a professorship to support faculty who embody the caring and creative teaching qualities that Paul exemplified through his career. During his 35 years at the college, Paul trained thousands of students to become the best pharmacists possible, and in the process, created a tradition of mentoring that is unmatched. While he wore many hats during his career at the college, his teaching cap was always on.
It is that quality that we seek to sustain and foster at the college by creating the Paul Doering Excellence in Teaching Professorship. Our goal is to endow the fund that will support the college with permanent resources to encourage other faculty to not only teach the knowledge, but strive to mentor the student.
Please take a moment to think about how Paul, or perhaps another faculty member, helped guide you to be the pharmacist you are today. Then honor that gift of knowledge by supporting this professorship, which will ensure that the next generation of pharmacists benefit from the tradition of teaching that is Paul’s legacy to the college and the profession.
