For the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s class of 2030, PharmDiscovery Week offered a memorable start to their journey as Gator pharmacists.
The college officially welcomed 249 new student pharmacists on Aug. 10, kicking off an action-packed week of events designed to introduce the class of 2030 to the college and the broader UF community.
Students from the Gainesville, Jacksonville and Orlando campuses spent their first day of PharmDiscovery Week together in Gainesville before continuing activities at their respective campuses. During the week, the new student pharmacists wrote their class creed, learned about good studying habits, explored community engagement activities and participated in a student organization fair. The activities culminated Aug. 17 with the first day of class and the start of their journey toward a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
The incoming class includes 131 students in Gainesville, 80 in Orlando and 38 in Jacksonville. Most students are Florida residents, while 37 students come from outside the state.
Nearly one in five students in the class of 2030 identifies as a first-generation college student. The UF College of Pharmacy has traditionally provided a strong community of support for these students, who are the first in their family to attend college and a professional school.
