Taking center stage was the college’s American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists, or APhA-ASP, student chapter, which won the APhA-ASP Chapter of the Year Award for Division A. The honor recognizes the most well-rounded and exemplary chapter among the nation’s largest pharmacy programs and marks UF’s first chapter of the year win since 2017-18.

“Winning the Division A Chapter of the Year Award is an incredible honor and a reflection of the dedication and passion of our entire chapter,” said Genisse Gonzalez, a third-year student pharmacist in the UF College of Pharmacy and APhA-ASP chapter president for the Gainesville campus. “It recognizes not only our achievements, but also the culture of collaboration, leadership and service that our members have built. For many of us, it is especially meaningful to contribute to a legacy of excellence and to see our chapter recognized at the national level for the impact we are making in both our profession and our community.”

The UF College of Pharmacy APhA-ASP chapter was also recognized with several other national awards, including:

Two UF College of Pharmacy students were recognized at the meeting for their service on national committees the past year. Paige Rhein, the past president of UF’s APhA-ASP chapter, served on the APhA-ASP National Awards Standing Committee, and Charles Hang, the past vice president of communications, served on the APhA-ASP National Communications Standing Committee. Finally, the UF College of Pharmacy acknowledges Thomas Menighan, B.S.Pharm., M.B.A., Sc.D., who received the 2026 Remington Honor Medal at the APhA Annual Meeting. Widely regarded as the profession’s highest honor, the award highlights his lasting impact on pharmacy. Menighan serves on the UF College of Pharmacy’s Dean’s Leadership Council.
