The University of Florida College of Pharmacy ranks No. 3 nationally in federal funding among pharmacy colleges, according to the latest data released by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The college’s investigators earned $19.4 million in National Institutes of Health, or NIH, awards in 2025.

The distinction marks the sixth time in the last seven years that the UF College of Pharmacy ranked in the top 3 of the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research rankings.
“Achieving this level of sustained success in federal research funding reflects highly upon the depth and relevance of the research happening across our college,” said Peter W. Swaan, Ph.D., M.Pharm., dean and professor in the UF College of Pharmacy. “Federal funding is highly competitive, and these new Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research rankings validate our faculty’s efforts to drive scientific progress and elevate pharmaceutical care.”
The UF College of Pharmacy had 24 faculty members receive NIH awards during the reporting period from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025. The individual awards ranged from around $80,000 up to $2.3 million.
The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research is an independent nonprofit organization that has tracked NIH funding since 2006.
