Oliver Grundmann, Ph.D., assistant dean for lifelong learning and a clinical professor of medicinal chemistry in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, or AACT.

The designation honors AACT members whose contributions have produced significant benefits to the academy and advanced the field of clinical toxicology. Grundmann was presented with this recognition on Sept. 18 at the North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology Annual Meeting in Chicago. Grundmann said this designation is a great honor that recognizes both his professional and personal passions to educate and interact with his fellow clinical toxicologists.
“Becoming a fellow of AACT furthers my deep commitment to an inclusive community that is dedicated to patient safety and saving lives. Together, with my fellow designation in clinical pharmacology with the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, it highlights the impact my collaborators, students and I have made in the field on a national and international level,” he said.
Criteria for fellowship designation include significant service in the field of toxicology, including research, publications, education and practice, as well as active involvement in AACT sections, committees, activities and publications. Grundmann said his designation will serve to better educate and inspire students enrolled in the college’s online graduate program in clinical toxicology.
“The online graduate program in clinical toxicology has provided many working professionals, and those wanting to enter the field, the opportunity to advance their careers. It has been a remarkable journey so far, and I am honored to be part of what each of our graduates accomplish,” Grundmann said. “The AACT designation is a recognition of the impact I was able to make on the lives of others and how they can apply their knowledge to help patients.”
