Kaitlin Alexander, Pharm.D., BCCCP, a clinical associate professor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Department of Pharmacy Education and Practice, has been selected as a 2025 Emerging Teaching Scholar Award recipient by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, or AACP.Ā

āBeing recognized as an Emerging Teaching Scholar is a great honor,ā Alexander said. āIt acknowledges my efforts to improve the education of our learners and the continuous work I have put into revising and updating content to enhance the learning experience. It also highlights my dedication to sharing these innovations and outcomes with others.ā
The AACP award honors academic pharmacy faculty for excellence in scholarly teaching and contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Alexanderās work focuses on incorporating artificial intelligence into education, exploring the scholarship of teaching and learning, engaging students and residents in research.
āThrough my involvement with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning interest group and the UF Center for Teaching Excellence Faculty Learning Communities, I actively share my experiences and insights with fellow faculty and students,ā Alexander said. āThis engagement pushes me to refine my teaching practices and explore innovative strategies in the classroom.ā
Among her recent efforts, Alexander has introduced an ESCAPE room activity in the Critical Care Capstone, updated a drug information assignment to incorporate artificial intelligence and guided in-depth patient case discussions about acutely ill patients in the Critical Care elective course. Recognizing the potential of generative AI in education, she is committed to learning about these tools and sharing their applications with others.
Alexander will be presented the Emerging Teaching Scholar Award at AACPās Council of Faculties Business Meeting on July 21. She is the fourth UF College of Pharmacy faculty member to win the award since its inception in 2017, joining Michelle Z. Farland (2017), Kathryn J. Smith (2020) and Lindsey Childs-Kean (2021) as recipients.
