Two members of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy — Oliver Grundmann, Ph.D., assistant dean for lifelong learning and a clinical professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, and Brandon Heinz, Ph.D., an instructional designer II with distance education support services — have been recognized by the UF Center for Teaching Excellence, or CTE.

In a collaborative effort, Grundmann and Heinz earned the 2024 Exemplary Online Teaching Award in the category of Holistic Teaching Strategy for the course PHA6556, Introduction to Clinical Toxicology. This three-credit graduate course is based on written modules and is structured to comprehensively provide students with the fundamental concepts of clinical toxicology. The award is judged by a volunteer group of faculty across UF and recognizes exemplary and innovative practices in online teaching and course production.
Along with this honor, Heinz was also recognized with the 2025 Trailblazer Award in the category of Commitment to Excellence. The award recognizes online support professionals who lead the way in designing engaging learning environments, facilitating best-teaching practices and integrating cutting-edge technology to enhance course development.
Grundmann and Heinz are set to be honored at the University Teaching and Advisor of the Year awards reception on April 8, at the Earl & Christy Powell University House.
