Jatinder Lamba, Ph.D., associate dean for research and graduate education and a professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, was elected a council member of the Section on Pharmaceutical Sciences for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, or AAAS.

“Getting elected for this position means a lot to me, as it provides me with the opportunity to serve the scientific community in pharmaceutical sciences and engage with leadership across other disciplinary sections, triggering multidisciplinary cooperation and collaboration with other stake holders,” said Lamba, who holds the Frank A. Duckworth Eminent Scholar Chair in the college. “Organizations such as the AAAS are at the forefront of supporting the scientific community and their ongoing research, and getting involved provides opportunity to gain a broader prospective, which is very important.”

Lamba will serve a four-year term as a member of the steering committee for the AAAS Section on Pharmaceutical Sciences, during which she will help oversee the AAAS fellows process, its multidisciplinary working groups, and the section’s business affairs and best practices. This role will provide Lamba with the opportunity to contribute to AAAS’ strategic aims, particularly advancing scientific excellence and achievement.
