The American Society of Pharmacovigilance selected Emily Cicali, Pharm.D., BCPS, a clinical associate professor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, as an inaugural winner of a STRIPE Double Helix Award. Cicali was recognized during the STRIPE Annual Meeting & Consensus Workshop on Oct. 23 in Rockville, Maryland, celebrating her impactful work in pharmacogenomics.
Cicali earned the award in the Outstanding Achievement in Pharmacogenomics category, which highlights individuals whose groundbreaking contributions in research, innovation, education, clinical implementation, or advocacy have profoundly impacted the field. Her dedication to pharmacogenetics has helped translate research into clinical practice, improving patient outcomes.
Cicali’s contributions to the field also includes service in several leadership roles. She is the assistant director for clinical pharmacogenomics in the UF Health Precision Medicine Program and the clinical director of MyRx, UF Health’s pharmacogenetics consultation service. Her research interests include the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics as well as further understanding the role of phenoconversion for optimal medication safety.
