Faculty from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s Orlando campus joined top medical experts to explore the future of health care at the Lake Nona Regional Chamber’s State of Medical City event on Sept. 13. This half-day symposium provided an in-depth look at the world-class health care and innovative research happening in Lake Nona.
UF faculty contributed to a panel discussion moderated by Clinical Assistant Professor Brad Phillips, Pharm.D., BCACP. The presenters included Professor and Perry E. Foote Eminent Scholar Chair Jürgen Bulitta, Ph.D., who focused on his research targeting drug-resistant bacterial pathogens, Associate Professor Siobhan Malany, Ph.D., who highlighted her lab’s efforts in using space-based tissue engineering to study age-related diseases, and Assistant Professor Sarah Kim, Ph.D., who spoke about using modeling and simulation to enhance clinical trial design.
Lisa Miller, Pharm.D., assistant dean of the UF College of Pharmacy’s Orlando campus, also moderated a session involving holistic health and wellness, while Administrative Assistant Cheyenne Drafke served on the development team for the event.
