Dr. Jodi Taylor appointed assistant dean for curricular affairs

Jodi Taylor, Pharm.D., BCCCP, FASHP, has been named assistant dean for curricular affairs in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She will also serve as a clinical associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Education and Practice, with both appointments beginning Aug. 1.

As assistant dean for curricular affairs, Taylor will lead the college’s nationally recognized team-based learning Pharm.D. curriculum delivered synchronously at the Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Orlando campuses. She will work closely with the interdisciplinary faculty teaching teams to plan and develop the curriculum and assess student learning and program effectiveness. Additionally, Taylor will work with leadership at UF Health’s five other academic colleges to develop innovative interprofessional education opportunities for students and supervise a team of instructional designers, academic coordinators, and video specialists who support curriculum delivery.

Taylor joins UF following 15 years at Union University College of Pharmacy in Jackson, Tennessee. She most recently served as a chair and professor of pharmacy practice, leading a department of 14 full-time and three adjunct faculty. In the role, she oversaw all department activities related to faculty, practice sites, curriculum, and teaching. As a licensed pharmacist, she cared for patients as a critical care specialist at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Swaan, Ph.D., M.Pharm., dean of the UF College of Pharmacy. “Her expertise will be an asset to the faculty and staff delivering our curriculum and the students progressing through our Pharm.D. program.”

Taylor has served the pharmacy profession through leadership roles in several state and national organizations. She was Director-at-Large for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Section of Clinical Specialists and contributed to the organization’s Council on Therapeutics. Taylor led the Tennessee Society of Health-System Pharmacists, or TSHP, as President and served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Pharmacists Association. She has also held committee appointments for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Recognized for excellence as an educator, Taylor was named the Union University College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year in 2022 and 2017. She has also received multiple Preceptor of the Year Awards for mentoring pharmacy students and residents at Union University College of Pharmacy and Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Taylor is a past recipient of the Tennessee Society of Student Pharmacists Student Advocacy Award, the TSHP Health-System Pharmacist of the Year award, and the Phi Lambda Sigma National Alumni of the Year award.

It is a privilege to walk this journey with people who touch the lives of so many,” Taylor said. “I am excited to join the UF College of Pharmacy, where you can sense the team, purpose, and passion among everyone in the Gator Pharmily.” Taylor earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. She completed a PGY-1 residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Memphis and worked as an instructor of clinical pharmacy at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy before joining Union University.
