Florida Pharmacy Association awards celebrate excellence of UF faculty

The Florida Pharmacy Association, or FPA, honored two University of Florida College of Pharmacy faculty at its 134th Annual Meeting and Convention in Tampa, June 13-16. Carol Motycka, Pharm.D., a clinical professor and the assistant dean of the Jacksonville campus, was selected as the Interamerican Pharmacists Association Roman Maximo Corrons Inspiration & Motivation Award winner. Meanwhile, Kelsey Cook, Pharm.D., a clinical assistant professor, was presented the Upsher Smith Excellence in Innovation Award.

Motycka is a former president of FPA and has been involved in the organization for more than two decades. She has served on over a dozen FPA committees and has strongly advocated for the pharmacy profession throughout her career. In winning the Interamerican Pharmacists Association Roman Maximo Corrons Inspiration & Motivation Award, Motycka was honored for her leadership and commitment to inspiring others to continue to advance the profession.

Cook joined the FPA in 2020, and she is a member of the organization’s Professional Affairs Counsel. The Upsher Smith Excellence in Innovation Award honors a practicing pharmacist who has demonstrated innovation in improving patient care. Cook was selected for her role in developing and implementing the Nemours Clinical Pharmacogenomics Service that serves pediatric patients throughout Florida.
