The University of Florida College of Medicine — Jacksonville recently honored Jessica Huston, Pharm.D., a clinical assistant professor in the UF College of Pharmacy, with its Early Career Award. Presented as part of the college’s Women in Medicine and Science program, the award recognizes an early-career, female faculty member in the health colleges at UF Health Jacksonville who has demonstrated outstanding potential for significant career accomplishments.
Huston joined the UF College of Pharmacy as a full-time faculty member in 2020. The selection committee highlighted her numerous leadership roles, including chairing the UF College of Pharmacy’s Admissions Committee and serving as president of the Duval County Pharmacy Association, as key reasons for her recognition. Since joining the college, she has authored nearly two dozen publications and has shown a deep commitment to mentoring pharmacy students aspiring to enter the pharmaceutical industry. Her dedication to mentorship was further acknowledged when the Florida Pharmacy Association honored her with the Jean Lamberti Mentorship Award in 2023.
“Receiving this award is truly an honor and recognizes the impact and meaningful contributions I am striving to make in health care education,” Huston said. Huston was celebrated alongside other Women in Medicine and Science award winners and nominees at a ceremony on May 23. Carol Motykca, Pharm.D., BCACP, the assistant dean for the Jacksonville campus and a clinical professor in the UF College of Pharmacy, was also recognized as a finalist for the Distinguished Faculty Award.
