UF College of Pharmacy students win AAPS and SIDP travel awards

SIDP Travel Award

Jazz Blanton, a third-year student pharmacist from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, received a $1,000 travel award to attend the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, or SIDP, Annual Meeting in Boston, Oct. 11-15. He was one of only two pharmacy students in the nation to receive the travel grant.

Jazz BlantonThe travel grant allowed Blanton to expand his knowledge of infectious disease pharmacy. He attended multiple discussions about the future of the profession and networked with antimicrobial stewards who provided career guidance. Blanton’s career goals include becoming an infectious disease pharmacist after he earns his Pharm.D. in 2025.

AAPS Travel Awards

PharmSci 360, the annual meeting of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, made its way to the Sunshine State, Oct. 22-25, as Orlando played host to an international gathering of pharmaceutical scientists. Three graduate students from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s Gainesville campus received competitive AAPS Travelship awards to help defray their cost of attendance. The travel award winners included:AAPS Travel Grants

  • Xiaoshu Pan, (Dr. Mei He lab)
  • Md Abu Talhaa Siddique, (Dr. Thomas Schmittgen lab)

Ali presented a poster at AAPS and participated in a Rapid Fire section titled, “State-of-the-Art Tools for Basic Research and Early-Stage Drug Discovery.”

Pan moderated a Rapid Fire section titled, “Advancing Therapeutic Discovery and Development: Mechanistic Considerations for Drug Delivery.”
