Jessica Huston, Pharm.D., a clinical assistant professor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, was presented the Jean Lamberti Mentorship Award at the Florida Pharmacy Association, or FPA, Annual Meeting in Marco Island, Florida, July 5-9. The award recognizes Huston’s commitment and dedication to mentoring the next generation of pharmacists.
Huston joined the UF College of Pharmacy as a full-time faculty member in 2020. Her extensive mentorship experience includes working with student pharmacists attending the FPA Legislative Days in Tallahassee and the Health Fair at the Capitol. She serves as the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists co-advisor and the Industry Pharmacists Organization student advisor for the Orlando campus. Huston guides students through the industry fellowship application process and helps them identify research opportunities within their interest areas. As chair of the college’s admissions committee, she also mentors prospective students and presents webinars on how to successfully interview for pharmacy school.
“Mentoring is one of the best ways to move the profession forward,” Huston said. “I enjoy inspiring other pharmacists and future pharmacists to find their passion and enjoy what they are doing. Watching others succeed and fulfill their goals is most rewarding to me.”
The Jean Lamberti Mentorship Award was established in 1998 to honor pharmacists who have devoted time to share their knowledge and experience with pharmacist candidates. The award is named in honor of longtime FPA member Jean Lamberti for her efforts in working with pharmacy students.
