Drs. Happe and Hatton recognized with UF online teaching awards

The University for Florida Center of Teaching Excellence selected two UF College of Pharmacy faculty for its top online teaching awards. Laura Happe, Pharm.D., M.P.H., a clinical associate professor, and Randy Hatton, Pharm.D., a clinical professor, were named 2022 Exemplary Online Award winners. Happe was honored in the Inclusive Teaching Strategies category, while Hatton was recognized in the Large Enrollment Strategies category.

Drs. Happe and HattonHappe and Hatton lead courses in the UF College of Pharmacy’s Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Online Graduate Program. Happe earned the award for challenging students to grow in their understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in the Pharmacy Benefit Design and Management course, while Hatton was honored for his efforts to help a large class feel like a small learning community in a course titled, the Foundations of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy 1: Drugs Discovery, Development & Approval. Instructional designer Brandon Heinz assisted both faculty members with their course quality review.

The UF Center for Teaching Excellence celebrates exemplary and innovative practices in online teaching and course production through its annual awards program. Only faculty teaching 80% or more of the course online are eligible. All the award recipients will be honored on April 20 at the Interface Teaching Conference at Emerson Alumni Hall.
