Two UF College of Pharmacy students elected to national officer positions in IPhO

Third-year pharmacy students Paige Madariaga and Dalyn Valentin-Shawver from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy were elected this summer as National Student Officers for the Industry Pharmacist Organization, or IPhO.

Valentin-Shawver, who attends the college’s Orlando campus, will serve as IPhO’s National Student Officer for Region 3. She will oversee 11 chapters in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina and serve as a liaison to the national IPhO organization on regional programming. The national student officer position builds upon Valentin-Shawver’s previous involvement in her campus IPhO chapter, where she served in an executive board position last year.

Madariaga became involved in IPhO as a student member during her first year in pharmacy school. She later became president-elect and now serves as president of the IPhO Gainesville chapter. She was appointed as National Student Officer of New Chapter Pipeline & Special Projects for IPhO. In this national role, she will be responsible for facilitating new chapter approvals and ensuring a smooth onboarding process, along with special projects throughout the year.

IPhO is dedicated to training student pharmacists and advancing the careers of industry pharmacists. The organization connects more than 5,000 student pharmacists with similar interests, as well as a national network of hundreds of industry fellows and thousands of industry pharmacists.
