Tyisha Hathorn, Ph.D., the associate director of admissions in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, has been selected as the Employee Excellence Award winner for July. She joined the college in 2019 and leads the admissions team in recruiting new students to the Pharm.D. program. This summer she helped organize the inaugural Gator Pharmacy Exploration Camp, which introduced 25 high school seniors to the pharmacy profession. The week-long camp featured dozens of activities across the UF and UF Health campuses and helped acclimate the campers to college life.
One of her nominators wrote, “Tyisha has always been a very hard worker. This summer, she planned and executed a brand-new program hosted by the offices of DIHE and Student Affairs. This program necessitated tremendous collaboration across constituents in the university, as well as with our practice partners. Tyisha ensured that all College of Pharmacy staff and faculty underwent appropriate training. She executed stellar communication with the students and parents, as well as Pharm.D. and PEAP student leaders who were camp counselors. The program was a great success and was incredibly impactful on the high school students who had so many positive things to say, including a comment from one student who stated, ‘I didn’t think I would go to college, but now I think I can.’”
