Stephan Schmidt, Ph.D., F.C.P., an associate professor of pharmaceutics and the Certara Endowed Professor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, was presented the Excellence in Academia award at the Model-Informed Drug Discovery, or MIDD+, Scientific Conference. Hosted by Simulations Plus, the virtual MIDD+ Conference took place March 3-4.
The MIDD+ Excellence in Academia Award was established to recognize the outstanding contributions of an academic scientist whose research and publications serve to support the development of innovative quantitative solutions that optimize treatment options for patients. Academic researchers with an area of focus supportive of quantitative pharmacology, or with research applications that support improving the efficiency of new drug development, are eligible.
Schmidt, who also serves as director of the Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology, has published more than 110 peer-reviewed articles in highly respected journals in the clinical pharmacology arenas. In addition, he’s authored six book chapters and two textbooks on the application of quantitative analysis techniques in various therapeutic areas.
