Vogel has specialized in commercializing specialty pharmacy products, building specialty pharmacies and developing strategies for manufacturers, hubs and health systems. He brings a wealth of experience in business development, clinical management and financial operations to the CQM. After achieving his undergraduate degree in accounting and completing his M.B.A., Vogel directed financial operations for a $350 million unit at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. He then transitioned to manage mergers and acquisitions, business strategy and procurement for the international consulting firm, Drake Beam Morin, Inc., in its Asia Pacific Market.

In 2004, Vogel moved into the pharmacy-related industry when he joined Curascript (subsequently acquired by Express Scripts and eventually by Cigna) to run the analytics and reporting department. Over a 10 year period, he created the framework for a patient behavior model, built and managed new product development for Express Scripts’ specialty pharmacy strategy and engaged managed care organizations to promote product sales.

Vogel replaced John Gums, Pharm.D., an associate dean for clinical and administrative affairs and professor of pharmacotherapy and translational research, who had been serving as the CQM’s interim director since Feb. 2017.
