TRAINING FUTURE SCIENTISTS IN:

Pharmacometrics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Analysis and Drug Delivery

Zack Greenberg

Research in the department of pharmaceutics at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy encompasses studies in pharmacokinetics, quantitative pharmacology, pharmacometrics, pharmaceutical analysis, pharmaceutical biotechnology and drug delivery. The department shares two campuses, with award-winning faculty leading research and education programs at state-of-the-art facilities in Gainesville and Orlando. In addition to teaching, all faculty are involved in collaborative research projects with clinical and other basic scientists at UF Health, the university’s academic health center. Many faculty maintain ties with scientists at other universities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide.

Research Areas

The Ph.D. program in the department of pharmaceutics provides specialized training across multiple research areas, including the following:

Pharmacometrics and Pharmacokinetics

Encompass the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs in animals and humans, and the relationship between drug concentration and effect.

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

Includes molecular biology, immunology and aspects of the delivery of DNA/RNA, peptide and protein drugs.

Pharmaceutical Analysis

Involves the application of spectroscopy, chromatography, extraction, electrophoresis, immunoassays and radioisotope assays to drug determination.

Drug Delivery

Includes physical, chemical and biological approaches to drug delivery, formulation and evaluation of dosage forms

Campuses
