Challenge Accepted: $55,000 raised during Crisafi Challenge
Thank you to all of our alumni and friends who rose to the challenge and made this year’s Crisafi Challenge another huge success! $35,000 was raised – by YOU – during this year’s 10-day challenge. With Dr. Bob’s match of $20,000, a total of $55,000 will directly support scholarships to recruit the best and brightest students for the next academic year. Thank you for rising to the challenge once again!
Meet Dr. Bob Crisafi
Bob Crisafi, Ph.D., ’56, spent his career researching, teaching and positively impacting patients and the pharmacy profession. Because of his personal experience as a student at the UF College of Pharmacy, he is motivated to help the next generation of Gator pharmacists. When he and his new bride, Barbara, came to UF in September of 1953, the couple had less than $1,000 to their names. Adding to the financial burden was the higher out-of-state tuition rate. The financial challenges of paying for pharmacy school weighed heavily on the young couple from Boston.
On the first day of pharmacy orientation, Dr. Bob was summoned to the office of Dr. William Husa, chairman of the department of pharmacy. Husa steered Dr. Bob toward pursuing a Ph.D. degree and encouraged him to apply for a $500 scholarship that he ultimately landed. In addition, Husa offered a teaching assistant position working in his lab. The life-changing encounter made Dr. Bob forever indebted and grateful. The encouragement and financial support had an extraordinary effect on his education and future. Given a lifeline of support on the first day at the University of Florida, the Crisafis have never forgotten the generosity they received from the UF College of Pharmacy. They are motivated to give back and created the Crisafi Challenge to provide scholarships to deserving pharmacy students that want to pursue their dreams at the UF College of Pharmacy.
Thank you to all of those who matched Dr. Bob!

Thank you also to our Crisafi Challenge donors who chose not to be recognized.
As I embark on my journey to become a pharmacist, I am especially grateful to benefactors who make high-quality education possible for capable applicants who are less able to afford it. Receiving this scholarship will undoubtedly allow me to make the most of my time at the University of Florida and explore all possible pharmacy professions.
