Commitment to Excellence
Our multi-cultural faculty attain excellence through high-quality research contributions and teaching. Current research projects involve peptide delivery to the brain; estrogen to improve brain function; the effects of cocaine and alcohol on the brain; new drugs to treat cancer; and many other areas that will play an important role in the future of medical treatment. The college’s faculty strive to achieve new successes in the areas of pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmacodynamics, pharmacy health care administration, and pharmacy practice.
The College of Pharmacy faculty help students reach a high level of professionalism through a curriculum which includes supervised clinical and practical experiences. Students learn and work in community and/or hospital pharmacy settings. Students are required to participate in an externship where they receive practical training in delivering pharmaceutical care services. In clerkships students acquire in-depth clinical experiences to sharpen their communication and drug therapy problem-solving abilities.
UF College of Pharmacy graduates are enjoying successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, community pharmacy, hospitals, and other areas. UF pharmacy graduates have achieved high levels of leadership in national associations, and have received numerous recognitions for their commitment to the pharmacy profession.

Pharmacy Student Organizations
Professionalism in pharmacy is fostered through commitment to excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and supervised clinical and practical experiences. Involvement in pharmacy student organizations is an expectation. Pharmacy students may be members of one or more of the following organizations:

Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Psi and Rho Pi Phi are professional/social fraternities. Rho Chi is the national honorary society for scholarly accomplishments. Phi Lambda Sigma is the national honorary society for leadership in pharmacy.

Many pharmacy careers are available in community pharmacy practice; institutional pharmacy practice; home health care; managed health care; pharmacy organizations; academia; the pharmaceutical industry; government; and other organizations and practice settings. Minority Interests
SNPhA (Student National Pharmaceutical Association) is an educational and service association of students who are concerned about pharmacy issues, professional development, the lack of minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate and execute programs geared toward the improvement of the health, educational, and social environment of the community. Activities include implementing health awareness projects such as: sickle cell anemia, diabetes, and hypertension screenings; safe use of medications; and poison prevention. There are several campus programs designed to fit the needs of our minority students. Included in these organizations are: the Hispanic Student Association; Latinos en Accion; Union de Estudiantes Puertos Requenos Activos; the Black Student Union; and several Greek letter organizations such as: Alpha Phi Alpha; Kappa Alpha Psi; Omega Psi Phi; Phi Beta Sigma; Alpha Kappa Alpha; Sigma Gamma Rho; and Gamma Sigma Sigma.
