Graduation with Cum Laude

  • Completion of all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum
  • A grade point average of 3.50 or higher in required pharmacy courses

Graduation with Magna Cum Laude

  • Completion of all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum
  • A grade point average of 3.60 – 3.79 in required pharmacy courses
  • Completion of a project, submission of a report, and presentation via adherence to College of Pharmacy guidelines

Graduation with Summa Cum Laude

  • Completion of all pharmacy coursework in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum
  • A grade point average of 3.80 or higher in required pharmacy courses
  • Completion of a project, submission of a report, and presentation via adherence to College of Pharmacy guidelines

Presentation options:

  • Research group meeting
  • Local presentation at site of research
  • College of Pharmacy Research Showcase
  • National meeting

Report Guidelines:

  • The report should be 2000-3000 words in length.
  • The report should include these elements: statement of the goals/objectives/hypothesis for the project, discussion of the background literature, methods used to gain the information or data, results/presentation of the findings, and a discussion of the conclusions drawn.
  • The title page must indicate the name of the student and the mentor.
  • References should be numbered sequentially.
  • The report may include figures and tables.
  • The report will be submitted along with the Recommendation Form for Academic Distinction at Graduation an signed by the faculty mentor and their department chair, or by the APPE mentor and the Director of Experiential Programs (Dr. Denise Klinker).
  • A single PDF combining both the signed recommendation form and the research report must be submitted to the Canvas website for Academic Honors as an assignment. It is advised that this is done within the semester after completing the research, and no later than April 1 of the year of graduation.
