November 2014

Dear “Pharmily” - Our Pharmacy Family,

It has been a busy and exciting fall in the college, including two recent news announcements from the Institute of Medicine that we are very pleased to share with you in this issue. As a college, we are making great progress in our upward journey. The ACPE accreditation site team was on campus last week for a final review. It was clear to Dean Johnson and others who met with them, that they are very pleased with the direction of our college. We are looking forward to receiving our final report after the new year.

The University of Florida also has named its next president, who was approved by the Board of Governors late last week. Dr. Kent Fuchs (pronounced fox) will begin his presidential term on January 1, 2015, coming to us from Cornell University, where he has been serving as the provost for the last six years. We feel confident that UF will be in exceptional hands for the coming years. He plans to meet with each dean between now and his start date. President Machen has brought UF to an amazing place, particularly in the last two years, with designation as a preeminent university in Florida, and with the substantial new funds coming to the university to raise us to national preeminence.
